Been playing with my Browning '86 for the Big Bore lever event (side match) as an upcoming shoot. Much to my surprise, I'm able to hit an 8" gong at 100m off hand, a 150m 12" gong and a 24" 200m gong sitting, by simply upping the ladder one notch per distance.

Gotta shoot that puppy more often! Got away from it when I really got into my Sharps rifles.

And to think you were considering trading it for yet another Sharps.   ;)

.... blush .... ;>(   Came to my senses, I guess. That rifle speaks to me. Hangs like a muzzle loader and shoots like one.
The Sharps beckons, and the seller informs me that he has reduced the price from $1100 to $975! I think he is "motivated", as they say in real estate.

BTW - after a session of BPCR silhouette practice, one of the boys hauled out his Browning '86 Carbine. Someone handed him 5 silhouette loads. He gamely loaded them singly and after the last round, silently put his head down on the bench. He was still for quite a while until the guy who gave him the ammo asked - "Ken, are you all right?"

Answer: "Yes, I'm just trying really hard not to cry ...." Seems the Carbine kicked a tad on the hard side, even with a sissy pad.
