Cimarron returns.
There is a discussion ongoing over on the Henry board about "warranty" and it came up, some of the importers did not return the Non-Repairable returned guns to the Mfgr and just stacked em inna room here.

ASM had returns.  Many Many Returns.  gobs returns.

What, if anything, did Cimarron do with the pile of ASM returns, when ASM rolled over dead??  Seems to me with enough of em, a body could come up with some nice running guns.  ASM Conversions would be real intriguing.

:o Dang! Never thought of it that way. If we could pick up a few 'returns' we could probably piece together a couple of working conversions or Schofields. Coffinmaker, you are a certifiable genius. Well, that or just certifiable like the rest of us. ;D

Well, sorry, but I dunno!  The ASM debacle sort of pre-dated my working at CFA.  Now, I can tell you that there is a shelf with a few ASM conversions, maybe 5 or 10? that are incomplete, and probably defective.  I don't know if those were returns or new stuff that didn't make the grade.  I think I heard mentioned years ago that those would never be sold.  I'm guessing that may have something to do with liability?  Don't really know.  There are also a similar number of partial Schofields, some with notes on them (such and such warped, bad this, bad that, etc. and some with no notes).  So, I guess one could call Cimarron and ask if any of that stuff would be available as-is, but I'm thinking they won't want to let it go.

I can tell you that a number of years ago all of the ASM conversion parts, and possibly some guns???, were all sold off to a movie production company.  Can't swear to it, but I'm betting it went to Peter Sherayko.

Now, I did hear a good while back that Lonnie Ammann of Tejas Long Rifles in Hearne, TX, who did a lot of repairs for Cimarron and still does action jobs and other stuff for them, had a wall of ASM schofield junkers.  Don't know if he might have any junker conversions as well.  And I'm betting he doesn't want to let any of that go that he may still have, but hey, ya never know.
