Your Perfect SAA

We have probably gone through this before, in fact I am sure we have, but, inspired by my response to the recent "China Camp" post, I am going to ask it again.

What is your idea of the perfect SAA?  This time around, I ask you to be specific in your response.  What exactly, and why do you want your "special" SAA?

As I mentioned in the China Camp post, I live here in the Northwest where we have a bit of rain.  I also reside near the shores of Puget Sound.    Love boating in the San Juan Islands and exploring over on the Olympic Peninsula.  Lots of winter rain and an ever close proximity to salt water.  What I need is a gun that can withstand the local conditions.  So... here is what I would wish for;

USFA (which will never happen) or Colt in stainless steel
4 & 3/4" Barrel
Ivory grips (hard rubber would do but I like ivory)
Elongated, Double Eagle style trigger guard (a bit easier to handle with gloved hands).  Again, no more USFA, no more elongated trigger guards.
Bisley style hammer (just because I like them)

I know that it will never happen but it is fun to dream!  Too bad the "old" USFA is gone.  :'(

Well, since you can only get a "SAA" from Colt, and Colt is flushing themselves down the tubes .............

And USFA has already gone down the tubes.

You can actually get what you describe (including the Bisley hammer) from Pietta.  Go for it!!   ;D

Thank you Coffinmaker!  As implied, this is a sort of "fantasy" posting.
I believe that Uberti offers a stainless SAA.  All of my SAA's (and I have many) are either USFA or Colt.  I have little experience with Uberti.  Maybe I should give some of the Italian guns a try.  Looks like it may be my only choice!
When it comes to Uberti vs. Pietta, what would be your choice?

Capt John,
Gave you a longer answer on another thread, but the short answer is Pietta.  Dimensionally a "ringer" for a second generation Colt, but for the most part, a LOT more user friendly.

In the foreseeable future, Colt is a non-player.  In all actuality, for the last several years, Colt has been a non-player.  I don't know of any dealers who have received regular "production" Colts for at least the last three years.  Before that, Colt delivery was very spotty.  I had a lot of them in the shop as soon as the new "proud" owners received em.  For the most part, they were pretty sad.  The guns that came out of the Custom Shop weren't much better.  I had a personal friend who received a consec pair of 32-20s.  Went back to Colt three times and still weren't right.  So ........

Presently if one wants a new SAA type gun, the Italian copies are the only game left.  This part is personal.  I don't personally like Uberti.
It isn't that they are bad or can't be made to run, they can.  I just don't like them.  Take a lot more work to make run (generally) than a Pietta.  I did work on an "in the white" polished steel, laser engraved pair about a month ago (for a friend) that took the least work to set up of any I have EVER worked on.  Go figure.  I like and recommend Pietta.  However, I think you could flip a coin and not be disappointed either way.

Lordy I get long winded sometimes

Blackpowder Burn

Colt 5-1/2" SAA, nickeled, fire blued and regulated screws, ivory grips, factory tuned with sights regulated, chambered in 44 WCF.

Of course, then I have to rob a bank to pay for a pair of them.  ;D
