Hello, I am look in at a pair of SAA's in 45 Colt that were engraved by Baron. #S62xxxA &S62xxxA. Is this who Colt normally uses for their custom shop engraving?

Thank you,

No - not at all.

I haven't hear of anyone using Baron in years - they did laser 'engraving' for Cimarron and others, but the Custom Shop work is hand-done.

Scouts Out!

Thanks. I decided to pass on these and keep my eye open for a new pair of P1850's.

St George sorry but you're highly mis-informed. Barons has done many special runs for Colt. Go to their website they have done beau coup SAA's, 1911's and others as well as Ruger and many other manufacturers. To discount them as merely a Cimmy clone engraver is a dis-service. And to say the Custom shop does not use them is simply untrue.
Their work is top notch i have 2 such Colts done by them as I also have some engraved by a couple old time masters. Laser engraving is cleaner and more even,t the hand etched versions are never exactly the same with high and low spots. Some folks like hand and some like laser to each his own.
