Scarlet Mask Vigilance Society wishes to conduct a side match at the 2015 NCOWS National.   Called the 'Top Scout of the 7th Cavalry'.  Have to throw a spear, shot bow & arrow, pistol, lever action rifle (pistol caliber), and one round in a Trapdoor rifle.  A trapdoor rifle and 45-70 ammo will be furnished by the SMVS Posse (or the competitor can shoot their own).  We will also provide the spear and bow & arrow.  We will setup 2 different sets of bales of straw with a target on each that they must hit with spear and bow & arrow.  We will put a steel buffalo head shaped target out at approximately 75 yards that they will try to hit shooting the trapdoor rifle off hand.  We would like to utilize steel targets currently at the Evansville range for the pistol and lever action rifle targets.  We will present a nice framed certificate and a reproduction 1872 Scout Insignia metal pin to the top male and top female scout.

Dustin

If anyone needs certificates made and/or scores calculated on the computer for the side matches, let me know.  In years past some side matches had their own certificates/awards and some didn't. Some of those that didn't became last minute for me to put in the computer. I'd like to avoid those last minute ones this year.

In years past I took care of the scores and certificates. The last two years I've had other assistance for that.  Unfortunately the last two years the scores and certificates have been an issue. Partially due to this, I've got someone else taking over the food. I'm taking registrations, scores, and certificates back over this year.

Dustin,  SMVS will have their own Certs.  Thanks for asking.  Bushwhacker

Two Bit Charlie

What are the shotgun side matches, the number of rounds needed and the course of fire?

Charlie,

I don't have the setup for the side matches only the one John and I run and we have no shotguns targets..
Most side matches at the National don't use shotguns..

I would bring a extra box of shells just in case.
