Speaking of accuracy from C&B.....I attended an NCOWS National Match (2006 maybe?). Someone devised a sidematch where the shooter fired at RR spikes setup such that a "hit" on the head caused it to "drive" into the backer. These were set out a ways...maybe 20-25 yds(?). Made shooting playing cards look easy. I actually hit a few with my 1860s, shooting one-handed....but I really mean just a few. I don't recall anyone getting 10-fer-10.

I have a somewhat elaborate cylinder loader, but it is rarely used. Too much weight, and it actually takes me longer to load using it.
I can't imagine using a screw-powered loader...and all at once?.... a lever is just too easy & quick, I reckon. Too each their own.

I'm assuming that by "lever" you mean the one on your piece, yes?
Thats what got me on this road in the first place....the idea of using the gun's own loading lever.
Do you find that using the gun's level/not using the gun's level makes an appreciable difference?

This past Saturday I used my "Tower of Power" at the Range. For SASS/CAS matches and such I use the on board loading lever.

A Friend and CAS shooter wanted to chronograph some BP loads for his 85 Browning 38-55. I tagged along and brought my Chrono so we could check his loads. As I had never shot my Colt navy 36 across the screens I brought one along for a test run with a couple of loads I use in competition. And because I wanted the same compression of powder in every chamber the TOP was brought along also.

After we tested his loads at 100 and 200 yards, and completed the Load Velocity test of the 38-55 it was game on for the 36 round balls. The TOP made the on the bench loading procedure convenient and safe for range work.

Oh, BTW the test results of my loads.
First, I shot my match load which I use in SASS/CAS . A flask 18 grain volume spout, which weighs 13 grains of APP.
This load delivered for a 5 shot average, 625 FPS with a 36 cal round ball .378" and weight is 78 grains of cast lead.

Next up, and what a surprise. Two shots were over 1050 FPS ! The load was a 21 grain flask spout, which weighs 15 grains of APP.
This load, with a 5 shot group average was 971 FPS. A very accurate load BTW; all shots were with in an inch at 15 yards.

We were shooting at a public range and the RSO was very pleased I brought The Tower of Power for the loading. I doubt he would let me load at the bench with the on-board rammer.

Next time I get this urge I will compare my usual APP to the Holy Black 3F Goex. Time would not allow the comparison this past outing.
A Multi-Loader, not so much. My nod goes to the TOP.

Thanks, Lefty...that was exactly what I was looking for. Very much appreciated.

"Tower of Power", it is.

Next stop, Dick's website....

Yes, I exclusively use the built-in loading lever on most of my revolvers. At time, it can be convenient to load some specialized revolvers using the separate cylinder loader...for example, my 4" NM Remington (which does have a loading lever) and at times my 1858 Starr.

BTW, I use genuine black powder.....the only "sub" I've ever used is Pyrodex, but just a few pounds (free) compared to the hundreds of pounds of BP..

When I get a chance, I'll post a few photos with groups.
