Hello Pards

Had I done my due diligence and a little research I would have found the so called "multiple purpose" musket cap is actually the reenactor cap with a new label pasted on the tin.

My thought is when CCI made this cap they left out the R.

Perhaps with a more direct fire path they would work OK, but with a Smith or Sharps there are too many corners for that feeble flame to go around.

Respectfully submitted

Buck,

I believe you are correct within most cases.

CCI developed a six wing musket cap that was pretty hot.
Many re-enactors found that these were almost too hot and caused the cap body to fragment and splash people with fragments of the cap body. Causing injuries to the participants.
The N-SSA never seemed to have an issue with these caps during their Team Competitions.
I can't help but wonder how many of the re-enactor nipples had been drilled out? Causing a great deal more back pressure to rupture the cap body.
But, this never came out within the complaints to CCI.
I hope this info helps people decide what caps they should consider for musket shooting.
My best,
Blair
