IRON-EYES

Anybody else ever made custom pressure cups like for a Blackpowder shotgun for their Blackpowder revolver and loaded up with say rock salt or any of those kind of ideas?

...How about sections of magnesium rod?

For years I've maintained that the only stupid question was the one unasked.  However in this instance you may be crowding the line a bit.  Just my opinion.

Agree with rdstrain49.
If it is your intention to use rock salt for a non lethal round I doubt it would work.
Otherwise what are your intentions?

Maybe you could load it up with gravel and rusty nails........but I'm not doing that with any gun I own.

What's the purpose?

Round lead balls have the best shape and density to do the job desired. all that other stuff has been tried over the years. If that other stuff worked they'd be in general use.

I think I will load a "feather-light" shotgun load. I have some soft pink feathers left over from a kids birthday party.

I think a small charge of BP with a double card O/P wad and stuff it full of fevers?

It's a legitimate question if you're not familiar with the efforts made to do these things in the past. It's just that it's been tried and does not work.

Just a question in passing....

How do folks manage their loads in the case of a revolver like "The Judge"
that loads .410 shells. I remember seeing a .410 that had shot and two copper
(brass?) discs by Winchester intended, I guess, as anti-personnel. I wondered
about how this load would impact the barrel. Only reason I raise any of this
was a comment made on YouTube about how large BP pistols (see: Walker Colt)
could be the "survivalist" preference of the future and could be made to fire
loads of shot. Anyone?

Best Wishes,

There is a Lady SASS shooter that habitually loads feathers in her shot charges. Having an attack of CRS and have currently lost her name.

I was thinking of a complete loda fevers, but a few in each load would really confuse folks. I gotta try it! I have some duck wings saved for fletching my arrows, but a few of the smaller tufts would be just fine. I can leave the pink feathers for the "pardettes".

The best shotgun load I have seen was a black powder shell loaded with a ladies teeny tiny black thong. It deployed perfectly and was left hanging on the side of the target.

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

I hope the target wasn't a Knock-down. If it was a strike-to-count target you'd be GTG 8)

I have seen many of the alternative shot shell experiments on youtbe, so would suggest starting there.  Very few of the ones I have seen were even close to what I would call successful and some had me thinking I would see a catastrophic accident when the trigger was pulled.  As I understand it, fletchetts, even when cut from lead wire, does not offer enough weight for suitable penetration to reach the vital areas required to end the conflict.  Kind of a reeal messy flesh wound, but not the internal haemorrhaging needed and these type munitions blow their pattern so badly as to make the line of sight the safest place to be.  ???

The copper disc is called a "Gas check" used to cover the base of lead bullets to prevent leading at velocities over 1600fps. They can be used in cartridges and in percussion revolver ammo above and below the shot. The trouble might be that 1.  not enough room for an adequate load of shot, and, 2. blown patterns by the spin from the rifling. Might be OK for snakes at CLOSE ranges?
