I've been to 10 or so Winter Ranges working for a vendor/sponsor, but this year I got to shoot it for the first time (don't ask how I'm doing.  It ain't pretty!  My goal of not coming in last in Senior Gunfighter is in peril  )

As a shooter I got a raffle ticket, so I put it in the drawing for one of five sets of 5 lbs of Goex Old Eynsford and I won!  So tomorrow I can pick up my 5 lbs.  I haven't been shooting much other than regular CAS, no long range stuff, and I've been happy with the Goex FFg and FFFg I've been using the last few years, but I've heard good stuff about the O.E. and it will be fun to play with it.  Or maybe it will provide more impetus to get a single shot rifle which has been on my want list for a long time.

Congratulations on your win!  What Ranch 13 said, plus this could be good because it could spur you on to get a single shot rifle.  Long range is a whole nuther discipline and great fun.  You'll enjoy launching lead at distant targets.

When Eynsford first was released, I ran a test with 50 rounds thru the 38-40, using 35 grs of 2f, the rcbs 180 bullet lubed with Bullshop Nasa. The gun never tied up, and I used no fouling control, the accuracy was just as good at shot 50 as it was on #1, and he velocity was running at 950 (right where it' supposed to be) from a 4 3/4 inch barrel.
Black Dawg cartridge was loading it in their rounds and the few boxes of rounds sent out for testing,that were shipped before the explosion close operations, drew rave reviews...
Folks that haven't tried it yet, really are missing some of the finest blackpowder available today.

I had been planning on buying it when I ran low on regular Goex, but then a pard sold me another 25 lbs for $10/lb, so I put it off.

Lefty - waste of a good powder for shot shells including the needed large powder charge.

Was talking to Abilene at Winter Range this Week about Brass Shell loads. Just thought I'd stoss the remark in for S & G's.
5# OE  was a nice shooters prize.
A shooting Pard of mine won a Ruger NMV in 45 Colt as his shooters prize. An other won a Factory engraved Pietta revolver.

Speaking of prizes, last year one of the raffle prizes donated by Cimarron was a Pedersoli "Model 71" in 45-70, and nobody ever claimed the prize!  Some shooter really missed out by not checking their ticket

Living about 6 miles from the Ensign-Bickford explosive plant in Simsbury, CT (founded in 1837) , I wonder about the origin of the name "Old Eynsford".

Eynsford is a town in England located in the Darent river valley, an area outside of London that was a major manufacturing site for Gunpowder in the 18th and 19th centuries.
