I think these 9/10 oz backs that I get from Thoroughbred have perfect backs for a rough out.

Thanks folks. I have an issue or two with it but we are our own worst critic.

Cliff, I have talked to Jeff and Mark at Thoroughbred and he keeps sending me to RJF. RJF buys about all his double shoulders and other cuts. We have had some good discussions on leather and the wholesale/retail part of the leather/hide industry.

You must be buying top end stuff. A vendor or two has sent me hides that would make sheep look shorn. Some had an inch or so of "fluff" that I used my belt sander to get it off.

May I ask what is the terminology used to describe the backs that you buy. So many vendors use so many different words to describe their quality (or lack thereof).
