I did make some jerky a few days ago. Cut lean beef in 1/4" thick strips. Marinate in beer, soy sauce and BBQ sauce for 24 hrs in the fridge. Hang on the top rack with toothpick hangers, in a 150F oven for 4 hours. Foil underneath to catch the drips. Watch it, as the marinade drips out a lot at first. It was a bit bland, so will experiment with more salty & spicy marinade. I think the expression is "season to taste". There are oodles of marinade recipes on the confuser.

My Personal Manager, aka "me Troublin", thinks that four hours in the oven uses more power than its worth, but she hasn't tried to buy the stuff sold-in-any-store, that comes out too salty & spicy.

Does anyone have plans for a solar food dryer? That might be more worthwhile, for my retirement budget.

Those rigs are pretty PC, aren't they.  The air here, even in summer, is too moist to dry it properly.
