I briefly introduced myself over in the black powder forum, but thought I would check in here as well. I currently have a Man With no Name, and hope to add a couple percussion 1851's in the near future. Perhaps a second MWnN at some point.
So far I have not fired the Cimarron, as I have been too lazy to load up some mild 38's, but I have some factory Remington LRN I may try this weekend, just to get away from the tv.

I'd add another source for Balls &  powder is Track of the Wolf & Powder Inc. (black powder)

caps have been in short supply and a little hard to find at reasonable cost   :-\

Yeah no kidding. I cound a place online which offers them for $7.25 plus a $28.50 hazmat fee, but with a limit of ONE tin per customer. I can't imagine they sell too many. I was quite surprised to find 11's at the LGS yesterday. I may have to go clean them out tomorrow.

He did sort of answer my question. I was aware of Hornady and Speer, but I thought maybe one of the commercial casters offered them in larger quantities. I suppose not.

Any opinions on Dixie Gun Works? They are offering Uberti 1851's for $275 right now. I have often heard stories about different distributors having better or lesser versions of the identical item, but that just seems improbable to me. Is there any real reason to think these would not be on par with any other Uberti?

nope.... Dixie's has been around along time, pretty much the same with the boys running it since Turner passed...
