I've seen reference to in Marcot's book to CD Leet ammo labeled "for Spencer Carbine - Calibre 50-100"

Am I correct in believing that this is just the standard 56-52 56-50 cartridge, but before that designation was widely adopted?

Why the 100?  Anyone know?

Herbert will no doubt weigh in, but if its the New Model its a 56-50 - or the .50 springfield cartridge.  The ammo crates were marked 50-100.

I'm pretty sure its a 56-50.  If Herbert differs take his word for it.

Actually, I meant 56-50... I had all those cartridge designations going through my head at the time!

It Should read, .50/100. Which indicates 50/100's of an inch (one half inch cal.)

Thanks... That would make sense, but it is definitely written as 50-100 in the book... I assume just a difference in notation.
