I just recently acquired this 1865 Burnside Spencer.
The bore seems pretty good, no pitting and shiny
I changed the breech block to the center fire conversion from Buffalo arms.
I'm not very good at taking pics but this is what I came up with

I would assume that it was restored but if it was, it was a professional job. The story that I got was that it came out of someones collection (estate??).
There are no scratches or pitting on it at all

The wood seems to be just a bit undersized where it mates up with the metal parts.
I am basing that opinion only off of the photos you posted, and, I am the first to admit online photos do not always show the details some of us would like.
