Recently posted some questions regarding a newly purchased USFA Henrey Nettleton.  Just wondering if someone can offer some insight regarding estimated production date for serial number ranges in this line.  Trying to determine if this guy falls into the "All U.S." range.  Sort of thinking it's from that transition period as it does not have the Pt. stamped on in the address but also doesn't feature that telling conical firing pin.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Will post detailed pics as soon as it arrives.

Voy,
The serial numbers on the  Inspector Series guns followed the same serial number ranges of the originals so it would be difficult to determine the date of manufacture by serial number alone.  Without the conical firing pin, you can be pretty much assured that you are looking at an Italian parts gun.  Nothing wrong with that.  One of the early tell-tale signs of the American made guns was the introduction of the conical firing pin on all standard models.
Another telling point is the shape and length of the cylinder flutes.  Italian cylinders have flute ends that are more pointed and extend, in length, just past the bolt notches.  American produced cylinder flute ends are more rounded and end about where the bolt notches start (hope that makes sense).

Thanks for the reply Capt.,
The shape of the flutes, and knurling on the hammer do seem indicative of an earlier i.e. ,Italian parts, revolver.  But non the less, I plan on enjoying the heck out of this one! Headed to my dad's gunshop to pick it up in the am.  Should make a great companion on many a long quail hunt!  Gotta keep an eye out for hogs and coyotes in this neck of the woods and this guy should serve that purpose wonderfully...while looking pretty dang sharp in the process.

Good on ya!  Looking  forward to seeing pictures and what you think of the gun.
