Howdy All,

I have a pair of Alchimistas from EMF and, until recently, never had an issue.

Now I have one that will fail to fire 2 rounds every time. I have disassembled and cleaned it thoroughly and checked the cartridges for unseated primers, etc.  I have tried both handloads and commercial cartridges with the same outcome.

I'm pretty sure it is the same 2 bores in the cylinder, but have not yet tested that.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

August

Check the lock-up of the cylinder -- AT SPEED.  It may be over-rotating.  When I've had pistols start doing this, the onset was sudden every time.  It has always been elusive because they will lock-up solidly when working with them at the bench, but not fire during a match when they are run faster.

Cock them with conviction and keep your eye on the cylinder while you do so.

Yup!!  Are with August.  A sudden onset of Miss-Fire is usually indicative of throw-by.  I would guess, one of two causes as well.  First is a peening of the sides of the locking bolt slots causing the bolt to pop up.  Second is a peening of the leading side of the locking bolt, allowing the bolt to pop up.  Ok, third ... a combination of the two.  OK OK, fourth, a Trigger/Bolt spring going Tango Uniform.  There is
also the "All of the Above."
Also inspect your fired cases for evidence of two firing pin strikes, one of which will be off to one side.
