Ya can use 32-20 Starline brass to reload for the Nagant. Works good specially if yer partial ta BP. WM

Lee has a die set for the 7.62 Nagant, available from Midway, that will load the original brass, retaining the gas seal.  I've got one of these sets, works great in my gun.  7.62 Boxer brass is now available from Grafs as well, and you can get a 50 round box of PPU (Serbian) ammo in the low 20s, with boxer primed reloadable brass.  I was going to go the .32-20 route, but now its nearly as cheap to just go ahead and load to original spec.

I have been told that if you're having trouble chambering, sometimes the crimp bulge on the case mouth will give trouble.  If so, a 7.62x39 Factory crimp die will solve the problem.  (Nagant brass is 38.5mm long!)

The Lee die set originaly was set up to load .32-20 brass, and indeed, 2 of the dies are stamped .32-20. But they've very recently modified the seating die post to fully countersink the bullet as per the original, and no longer include the .32-20 qualifier on the cover.  I use a Lee mold for the .311 100 grain round nose.  Over an acceptable charge of Trail boss, shoots very nice indeed.

Resurrecting this thread, because I bought one of these novelties....course the prices have gone up some now 2 years later.
GW Strong's link now lists them @ $195 and I'm seeing $ 250+ asking prices on GB.

I had seen these back then, but not really had the curiosity, but Saturday that changed ....

Mine is a 44 Mark Izhevsk and was re-manufactured, excellent cond. & bore , the Holster & cleaning rod you see them with ( they'ed misplace the screw driver ) and new box of 7.62 PPU Ammo....
The list on the Ammo was $39.95 , But It can be had for $25 or less on-line.
I also got a reproduction leather holster .....

I figured a fun plinker for a little cash  :)

I use a .222 sizing die to put a crimp on the PPU case, just enough to allow it to enter the chamber smoothly.

I use a LEE .30-100 bullet seated with the bullet nose flush with the case mouth.

I now use a Lee Winchester .25-35 sizing die with a little ground off the bottom to put a nice taper on the end of the brass.  BTW the 44 Ishvesk is considered a relative rarity among the Nagants, the vast majority being made in Tula.  Even in the days of $95 u pick ums, that particular year and mark went for twice that of the run of the mill Tulas.  Congrats!

THese little revolvers have pretty much replaced my 22 rimfires for woodswork and plinking.

Try shooting one with BP loads sometime.  You will discover what I think is the REAL reason for the gas seal system!

I just use the Lee 311 100 grain, but those would certianly work!

Anybody tried the .32ACP cylinder that was available for the Nagant?   When I got my Nagants the cylinders weren't for sale anymore.  I would like to get 1 or 2 for mine.  That way I could shoot up the messed up reloads for the Walther PP.
