I recently bought a junker I'm bringing back from the brink, unfortunately the teeth on the ratchet on the cylinder are worn out. Anyone got one they don't need?

Greetings My Good Thumper -

it has been a bit, I am still playiing with the brass Sharps cartridges you sent me way back ... long time .. blah blah blah.

back on topic, if you cannot find a new cylinder, a fellow showed me how cut off/ drilled out the old one and  he turned a new "bushing", cutting new teeth on it! If I find the photos I'll post them. It sounded like a rtick method of rejuvinating the old ratchets!

There are cases where a Uberti cylinder will work in an ASM.

If need be the old ratchet index teeth can be freshed up(file) and a hand made that can reach out a lil further to make it work well. Depends on how and where exactly it's worn out. There is usually enough there to fresh up and re-hand to make er work Thumper.

Sometimes if the hand hits top of the hand channel then a lil needs ground away to give a lil extra reach without the hand hitting the top of the edge of the hand channel.

I'd bet the old cylinder has enough teeth left to get er workin.

I have used old Uberti cylinders in ASM Walkers. If the chambers can be turned into alignment with the bore it'll work.
