Howdy, y'all!

Been a member of SASS since 2002, but never made it to a shoot.  Just joined up with the local posse (Johnson Creek Regulators) and hope to make the July event.

Still collecting gear, gonna start with my '51 Navy (the .44 version) and go from there.  I have also hunted for the last 15 years with a CVA Bobcat .50, so I'm just vaguely familiar with BP.   I shake my head at my father and bro in law and their confounded 'pellets'. ;)

Just gonna sit back and learn for awhile.

Thanks for the add.

Welcome to the group.

Bruce W Sims

Welcome. Looking forward to hearing how things go as you delve ever
deeper into the "Arts". You've got a lot of fun to look forward to....

BTW: Were you loading your own BP for the SASS? Just wondering....

Best Wishes,

Bruce

Welcome to the fire. Set a spell and have some fun.

Welcome.  Started with a .44 1851 (though it is not authentic I still like mine).  Now I'm accused by the better half of collecting all sorts of single-actions... ::)...she's right.   ;D

Thank y'all!

Bruce- I haven't shot in a SASS competition yet.  But I do load my own cylinders when I shoot my Navy. ;)

Thumb Buster- I know what you mean.  It's just a nice shootin' gun!  I am probably going to reduce my powder loads, right now I'm using 28-30g FFFg Goex.  For target shooting, I might knock it down to 15 or 20, she's got a bit of a kick!

Take care!

1.3cc or 20 grains of FFFg is exactly right for Cowboy 45 Special loads.  It's the same amount used in a compressed load for the 38 Special.  This is not a gamer load and should serve you very well with your 44 Cal. C&B guns.

The flask I use throws about 21-23 grains of FFFg.  Bought what was supposed to be a 30 grain throw but it's actually closer to 35 grains and I haven't chopped it down yet so for now the low 20's is fine for punching paper and other inanimate objects.  Between this'51 hybrid and my 1860 I have ton's of fun.   ;D

Thank ya Mr. Dastardly and 'Buster.  After our trip to Williamsburg/Gettysburg this week, I'll give them a shot! ;D
