2014 Illinois State Musters

The Gatling Gun is Back
The Division of Illinois is proud to announce there will be two state musters in 2014. Both Musters will be held at the Good Guys Posse Dry Gulch Ranch Range in Winnebago, IL on Saturday 31 May 2014 and Sunday 31 August 2014. Location information: 10573 Telegraph Rd. Winnebago, IL www.goodguysposse.org

The theme of the May muster will be Close Quarter Combat. You should expect to engage the enemy with bayonet, knife and saber. These weapons will be supplied if they are not in your personal arsenal. These three stages will be at closer range than previous musters, but you should not have the expectation that the targets will be larger.

An additional stage will be a "Squad Shoot." The troops present will be assigned to a Squad and deliver massive fire to an individual target until said target is obliterated.  Squads will be divided equally by type of long gun used by the trooper.

Details on the August muster will follow at a later date.

If you have questions get a hold of me at shamrockgannon@live.com or 217/722-8512

Gun carts will be allowed at this muster because there are no provisions for stacking firearms. Hearing protection and side shields/wrap around safety glasses are required for anyone on the range. SASS safety rules will apply. The muster is shot with a rifle and one pistol. Bring a second revolver, because it will be required for one stage. Pistols will be shot "dualist." Uniforms not required. SASS legal pistols and rifles .38 caliber and larger can be utilized. Categories based on GAF Battle rifle standards.

Pre-registration isn't required but appreciated by the Mess Sergeant so the amount of food needed can be determined for the noon mess (lunch).

Registration at 0800 – Safety Meeting at 0845 – Muster begins at 0900 – Lunch at 1230

Regards,
Bvt. Lt. Col. Pat "Shamrock" Gannon GAF# 447

Could I camp on the range or close by?  I'd like to try and make this match, but won't know until the last minute.

I am sure you can do that. The land owner camped for the last muster so it seems like a good idea. I probably will as well.

Drydock,
No problem camping out. Please call the landlord at 815-509-6375 when you get close. He will come to range and show you where to camp. Map to range can be found at: http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=6130 url
Don't have round count-the squad shoot is a variable number-depends on how many it takes your squad to bring down the target. 50-60 for rifle and 40-50 for pistol should be enough. However it never hurts to have more!!
