Here are some pictures:

I've always wanted a 38-55 Sharps......Is $1375 a fair price for this rifle. I'm going to drive a couple hours to look at it and possibly buy tomorrow.

This is the gun you are looking to buy.  From the website:

http://csharpsarms.com/catalog-detail/36/Model-1875-Target-and-Sporting-Rifle.html

Note the retail price.  Of course this retail price doesn't include what appears to be a midrange site on the gun you want to buy.  I can't make out what front site is on the gun you want to buy.  Is the gun you want to buy advertized as new or is it used?

I would say that the price on your gun is OK, but not a steal.  Basically, you are getting a midrange site thrown in for about the same retail price of a new gun.  If the gun you want to buy is used, then I would say the price is a tad high.

I'ld be a bit concerned about all the holes punched in the barrel for those scope blocks. But other than that, if it's something you want then yes it's probably worth it.  But keep in mind you can get one brand new and be covered by the full factory warranty for about the same money.

It appears that rifle has the single set trigger?  In that case, i have a C Sharps 1875 Sharps model like that one, only with their No 2 rear sight and the single set trigger.  I paid $2,000 for it directly from them.  That sight would run at least $200 more.

I do love mine.  It's in 45-70 and will put 3 shots into 5/8" at 100 yards.

From the website.  $1325.00 without the site.  If the rifle is used then a price of $1375.00 seems a bit high.

Most of their base rifles that I have seen do not have as nice of wood so I'd say figure that in as well.  I think the C Sharps and Shilohs under 2K are worth looking at.

Looks like not a bad deal to me.  If the sights are in the picture, they should be included, but it is always best to ask that anyway.

New, they are priced at $1675 plus 11% excise tax right?

I find the 1875 Sharps to be not very photogenic.  They look ungainly in pictures, but are much nicer in the flesh.  Also, .38-55 is such a fun round.

I drove up to Kittery Trading Post in Maine yesterday and picked it up. 100% perfect condition. Appears unfired! Not a mark on the muzzle and extremely low wear on the chamber block. Not a rub or scratch anywhere. Even where the tang sight folds down and impacts the comb of the stock....

The price in the C Sharps web site does not include 8.25% Fed Tax, the Mid-Range CSA Tang Sight and the CSA bubble level front site, single set trigger, pistol grip. All in, a new one exactly like what I bought is $2138.00 plus shipping and FFL transfer.

I paid $1375 out the door. No tax with a New Hampshire transfer. A Smok'n Deal!

I posted the range results on another thread. It is a shooter!

Very impressed with the fit and finish. The wood to metal fit is simply amazing. I removed the stock to breath on the trigger a bit and I couldn't believe the fit of wood to metal and the internals. C Sharps really makes a great rifle!

Kittery has a 1885 C Sharps in 97% condition for $2100 in 38-55...............Road Trip! ;D

I thought it looked like it had a single set trigger!  ;D

The 1875 C Sharps is the best bargain on the market.  Comparable in price to the Eye-talian Sharps and totally made in the US of A.  And incredibly accurate to boot.  ;D

I love mine!

I have a 74 Shiloh (pretty much a Quigley without initials or tang sight) and a 75 C Sharps (cool French Grey).
For me, the C Sharps is more accurate.

C Sharps makes a great rifle.  I have a Hartford model in .45-70.  It is a very accurate rifle.  John is good to deal with, contrary to other accounts.  He did me a very good job.  I met him at a gun show in Denver, and he met all five of my kids.  He upgraded my wood to extra fancy at no charge.  Disclaimer... Not everyone is as charming as I am! :)
