Hello.  My grandfather just acquired his grandfather's old shotgun, a side-by-side, external hammered, 12 ga. made by H. Spencer & Co.  Was this firearm made by the Spencer Co. in the US or does it originate from elsewhere in the world?  He figures it comes from the late 1800's.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi Lestock,

I'm not aware that C.M. Miner Spencer manufactured anything but pump shotguns, after his Spencer Carbines and Rifles, but I could be wrong.

Check out this web site - they list a Spencer like you describe in your post. Maybe they can offer you information on the one they are selling that will help you with the one you have?

Thanks, I'll give that a look.  I do wonder if it is European at times given the H. Spencer name rather than the US initials.  However, we shall see.  Thanks for the link.
