Do we have anyone here with experience on the 1878 DA revolver?
With no cylinder bolt, all lock and timing is via the hand.

I'd like a short course on troubleshooting and tuning this revolver.

Thanks!

So would everyone else...

There's a booklet on them that sometimes shows up on ebay - that, and Dave Chicoine's 'Gunsmithing the Guns of the Old West' are about the only references I'm aware of.

Step 1.  Sell '78 on Gunbroker

Step 2.  buy Colt SAA.

FCK-

I'd consider that if this weren't a hand-me-down from a great old friend.
Keeping this one 'in the family' so to speak.

I'm up for the challenge, been a machinist/jeweler/precision metalsmith for all my adult life and most of my youth.  The guns and tuning them and shooting have been around all along too.
Just want to take the best path to success on the 1878
