Hi Pards,

I come to the Help source again. I just bought the Tandy Craftool Deluxe Splitter # 3795. Seems to be well made and should fulfill my needs as a hobbiest.
Won't split butter pads. I know the blade needs more work. But I can't figure out the set up and no instructions. I don't know what the relationships from blade to roller to depth of cut etc., should be. Any suggestion would, as always, be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone use one of these ?
Be well--BobbyF

after a strop session on the blade get a spray bottle of water and dampen the flesh side then pass the piece through the splitter
should cut with the leather a little damp at the surface.

Hi St 8, Massive,

Thank you for the replies. The Weaver is very similar to the Tandy and the U-Tube video was very helpful. St 8, the tip about casing the material made the skiving much better. I think the machine will work just fine. I don't know what kind of steel the blade is made of, but it is a tough one to get razor sharp.
     Thanks again and be well--BobbyF
