I was just talking to CapTech International about 45-75 brass, they have a bunch in stock.  I also asked about 45-60 brass and they expect to have it available in about a month.  Their phone # 605-791-1974.

I have bought their brass before and like it.

Is this correct sized brass or reformed from 45/70?

I missed the 45/60 brass at Midway this week and BA is still not showing a timeframe.

Never mind, I found the website and saw the pictured brass.

Better price than Midway if it does not change.

You can check with Oklahoma Tom too, 3B Shooting Supply.

He is a distributor and I got some through him for the same price.

Evening Folks,

The new brass from Captech is coming into stock in places.  I just ordered from Buffalo Arms.  Starting off with Rocky Mountain Cartridge brass for the .45-75 WCF, I wanted to see how this compares plus adding a few more rounds to the stores.  Should be here early next week.  Good to see this come back in stock.

Howdy Dusty,

I bought 100 cases about 2 years ago and have had no problems.  The case head is labeled Jamison 45-75.  Tuesday I receive another 200 cases I ordered Wednesday of last week.  Quick and good service.

I've been using the Jamison / CapTech 45-60 brass for a number of years and have reloaded it numerous times with no problems.  I expect to get as good a results with the 45-75 brass.

I have no connection to CapTech, I just want people to buy their brass so they keep making it.

Greetings All,
Well the FEDEX truck ran today, delivering 100 new .45-75 WCF brass cases by Jamison.  I ordered these from Buffalo Arms last week.  I started off with my new Uberti about this time last year and could not obtain any Jamison brass due to their having business changes and existing stock depleted from dealers.  Turns out Rock Mountain Cartridges makes really good brass using CNC manufacturing methods and I was able to have 100 pieces made on their semi-custom basis.  This brass has worked very well and appears to be very robust, but I wanted Jamison to go with it.  Now I have both, I sat down and did a little comparison tonight.  It isn't a scientific comparison; don't have the instruments for that.  What I tried to do was a simple, common sense comparison using dial calipers.  Wanted to share what I came up with.  Starting off just looking at the brass side by side shows the results of two different manufacturing methods but both present as good looking brass cases.  I measured the overall length of an example and it came in at 1.877".  The Rim diameter measured .615" and thickness .058".  This compares to the RMC brass that measured an overall length when delivered of around 1.910", with Rim diameter of .617" and thickness of .067" to .068". All of my RMC is loaded so couldn't compare the cases side by side unloaded.  The Jamison won't require trimming but I have to admit I liked being able to trim the length back to where I wanted it with RMC.  The Lyman 49th edition reloading manual lists a trim to length of 1.88" and OAL of the case at 1.89".  This is nothing in my view to be concerned about; it is just a personal preference.  I am interested to see how the cases chamber with the slightly thinner rims.  Now I am again just expressing my view here, but typically we see GO/NO GO gauges used in measuring chambers to meet specs because the spec is a range, from this to this.  It is the same here with the case dimensions we see in this example.  Don't mean it won't work; it still falls in that range of meeting spec.  At least that is how this old hillbilly understands it, but wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.
Bottom line, this is good looking brass and my feeling is it will be great.  I agree with Mr. Sliver Rings, I want Jamison to keep making these cases, not just for mine but all the 1876 cartridges.  Oh, the price is right at half what I paid for the custom made cases.  Does it make it better or worse?  Don't think so, just two different ways of making the products and I hope BOTH companies keep making cases!!  I have put the entire dent in the demand that I can justify right now but hope others stock up so the production line keeps running.
Now the fun starts, in working up loads in the new cases as I am betting the internal capacity is different for the two brands, same as for any other rifle.  Jamison and RMC are both good products, and it is good to see Jamison back in stock.  Hope this helps some; here are some pics of the new brass.

Thank's for the report Pinto Bean's. We are lucky that we can purchase brass and other reloading supplies ,for our obsolete cartridges. It was not as easy to get specialty item's only a few yr's ago. My hat is off to vendors that supply us with what we need. And the people that purchase these item's . That's who is keeping our shooting style alive. Now if the dang weather would ease- up. We could get to burning some powder. ,,,,,,,Dusty
