BIG thanks to Ottowa Creek Bill!

This past weekend Bill mailed me an 1885 Army discharge.  He found a real one to use as a model and through the magic of Photoshop and other technology reproduced it and changed it to fit my chosen personna!  He used some real onion skin paper that cost $10 per sheet and came from Germany and is like what was really used!  He also studied the style of handwriting used pre-1900, filled in the spaces and sent it to me.

When I learn more about the technology involved, I'll post a photo of it so you too can enjoy this bit of historical realism.

Thanks for the complimet. Even though Jeff's document was dated for the year 1885, my research has found this form (style) of discharge papers was used from about the end of the Civil War upto around 1900 when it changed somewhat just prior to the Spanish American War. Being as artist it is real easy for me to copy the style of writing done during the 19th century.
The real neat thing about the document is I used ink from a very old bottle of ink, (pre 1900) and a goose quill (we have a lot of geese in these parts) to do the script style of writing.
