My son gave me the stuff to start loading brass shotgun shells.  I've been wanting to do that for several years, but there were always more important "immediate" needs.  These will now allow me to be completely period correct with my Gen 1 Colts, original '73 and 1889 Remington shogun.  I've just finished assembling a variety of test loads to work with this weekend.  Should be a hoot!  ;D

Reloading is always a good idea.
Think in terms of overall cost, if nothing else.
Yes, reloading will cost to get set up. But, it is cheaper than trying to buy ammo that at sometimes may not be available.

Well it was a  retirement present.  My last night at the hospital was Dec. 23rd.  I got the 51 Navy from Cabalas that has the engraving . I was really surprised.  They also gave me several bottles of liquid!!!!  It was very nice but bothered me because I know how hard those people work for their money. At home I got a whiskey decanter of a stage coach.  A pocket watch, a couple books and a couple old west DVD,s.  A good haul I think.  Bushwhacker

Major2,

Start your list for next Christmas - lead pot, bullet molds, lube/sizer.........and don't forget the Black Powder!  ;D

Coffinmaker,

Yep, I can already tell it's going to be a hoot.  I was a little intimidated by it for awhile, but once I actually loaded some yesterday, it's not so much of a much.  And all those brass shells look really cool lined up on the loading bench.

Since I'm not retired yet (dang it!), casting and loading for all my cowboy stuff, it definitely keeps me off the streets!

BB, to me loading the brass shells is easier than plastic.

My buckarette's shotgun is going to be after Christmas due to having trouble finding one.

But that has been remedied and the gun will be shipped soon enough.

Merry Christmas Ya'll!

Oh yeah and late present for me...trip out to Winchester, Va to pick up a case of BP and some caps too

Now THAT looks like fun Dusty.  It might come in handy for those trips down range to change targets too!

It a 20-gun cabinet finished to a golden oak to match a pair of book cases that flank it.  The pics don't do it justice.
