Want to get my new vaquero a new hammer i can reach easier, and a lighter trigger pull. What hammers you all using? Ive heard the super blackhawk hammer is a popular mod, and i know people switch springs, what weight springs is a tough one though, i want reduction in weight but still 100 percent reliability. Love this gun

What I like is as follows--Your results may will vary.

For Gunfighter Category:
4.6" or 5.5" barrels
Bisley grip frames with checkered panels,
Bisley trigger and hammer,
17# hammer springs,
20 oz trigger springs,
Shortened base pins,
Darkened sights (depending on target color and daylight).

My wife shoots her Vaqueros two-handed.
She prefers the smooth grips,
7.5" barrels,
plow handle grip frames,
17# hammer springs.

When I used to shoot Modern Category:
I liked the Super Blackhawk grip frames,
Super Blackhawk hammers.

Let's hear from some other RATS!!

Howdy Diesel! The Super Blackhawk hammer is very popular. I have them on some of my Rugers. It drops right in with no modification (or very minor). You might also consider the Bisley hammer, which is now legal in a non-Bisley grip frame. If you shoot one handed it is very nice as that's what it was designed for. The Bisley hammer is not a drop-in, it involves grinding down the rear of the hammer to make it work. Not hard to do but time-consuming. If you can find someone with a Super Blackhawk hammer in their gun ask them if you can try it for feel. You will probably like it, I know I do.

As for hammer and trigger springs, look at "Magic Springs by Seven" website. His hammer springs are great and dead reliable. If you want a lighter trigger pull, take off your grips and unhook one leg of the trigger return spring. It lightens the trigger pull and it's free!

Have you compared the Magic Springs with the Wolfe Springs?
