Another Grand, Unrealized Idea

Here is something interesting that I found, pretty much by accident.  While doing some research on Colt patents, I came across this one that was issued to USFA.  The patent, filed in March of 2002, was issued to Douglas Donnelly in August of 2003 and is for an interchangeable barrel/cylinder system for the SAA.

I'm sure at least one was made but I don't remember seeing it in the museum.  The locking system on the barrel is similar to what was used on the takedown lightning.  I'm sure you recognize the Zip in all the other patents.

Another patent that was listed was for the removable firing pin system.  I believe that it was actually incorporated into one of the "specialty" guns listed on the old web site.  For some reason the name "Sparrow Hawk" comes to mind.  Is that one that we missed on my "name the guns" trivia question or am I imagining things?

We did miss the Sparrowhawk.  How soon we forget.  And it did have the removable firing pin.
