Put a "PORT" in your Bullet Puller!

I use a Quinetics "impact" hammer type bullet puller and I hate having to screw the cap off every time I want to empty the powder and removed bullet.

So I cut a port into the side of the puller and it works like a dream!

I put a few pictures of the modification on my web site if you are interested....

I've never cut out that window, finding that I still have to unscrew the cap to remove the casing and insert the next.

On the two Quinetics bullet pullers I have, I simply loosen the cap and the shell falls out. I don't need to remove the cap. About a half turn is enough.

Is yours different?

I just pulled the bullets from 200(!) LRN 9mm loads that my wife's SR9 did not like, key-holing and spitting them all over the target. EVERY case had to finagled into the collet, even though they were taper crimped.
I could have loosened the screw cap to tap out the empty casing, but since (read above), I figured I was screwed any way, so WTH .....
I have yet another 100 to pull, these loaded with 125 gr JHP's that would not feed reliably in her gun.

You'd think that with all my experience in loading many calibres that I would not load up any number of rounds without first checking for function, but you'd be wrong ....

Mine already has a port, I thought they all did. I think it's an RCBS.....well, at least I think it is, I do know that it's green.

Mine's a Franklin, it has no port but that's no problem because I have remove the cap to remove & replace to case.

I never have to pull large amounts, I never load a large amount till I'm sure the load is fine.   If it is a cast bullet I just use the press and a vise-grip and toss the bullet back to be run through again.

I never have to pull many. I will test fire a single load, then load 5 or 10 & shoot those before I load a box full.
I don't like the vice-grip trick because the bullet has to be recast. I even put a cotton ball in the nose of my puller so it wouldn't deform my bullets.

Did have to pull 100 .44s one day. Bought a box of reloads at an auction & saved the cases, primers & bullets.

Only problem with the port is, if you have one that is real stubborn, and have to really whack it, then sometimes when the bullet finally comes out you get powder everywhere.
