For WHEN I need one as in Pistoleer/NCOWS and even home defense if my 870 isn't as close, I have an older Tula 12 ga. SxS hammered coachgun with 18"-20" choked barrels.  (R barrel choke is Mod. L is Imp.)

From the town and arsenal of Tula, USSR, now Russia, those friendly folks who brought you millions of AK series weapons.

Depends on my mood, mostly.  I have a Cimarron 1878 mule ear, a couple of Stoeger Coach Guns, a Cimarron 1887 and a Coyote Cap 1887 IAC, as well as a Cimarron 1897.  All 12 Ga.  When I am really feeling olde timey, I pull out my antique Hopkins & Allen SxS hammered shotguns with 28 inch barrels and some Goex Black Dawge 12 Ga shells.  Cimarron also sells a pretty nice 1881 hammerless SxS in 12 ga, Tru-Choke tubes.  But to be honest, it takes a little work to make it stay open.  Got one of those with 26 inch barrels.

Old post, but I just ordered one while I was in Wichita.  Bullseye had a couple of the 22 inchers in stock, but I've been wanting a longer one so I can use it for Skeet too.  I'll probably hunt with it too.  The stock fit on the 22 inchers was what I"m used to.  I have to go back to Wichita in a few weeks, so I hope it's in then.

Sorry for being Dr. Frankenstein and raising the dead again...   ;)

Nothing wrong with bringing back an old topic, if it helps the newcomers.

It spurred some old memories, when I was introduced to WAS (1989-90) I was loaned a Fox 311, it was mine to use, clean and when and if I chose to buy a Double, return it then.
Double's were about the only thing being used in given match at the time. The 311 had 26" barrels and was a tad unwieldy in and around
the false fronts.
Rossi & Stoegers where about the most common, but Rossi's were become rare to find... So I bought a 20" Stoeger.
It took some work polishing the lugs & Chambers but it worked OK.....

I stepped away from WAS for several years in mid 90's  , just sorta drifted off....

I wanted a Hammer gun , so I sold the Stoeger, enter the TTn about 10 years ago, and I enjoy it.
However, like Dave & Jeff these days I shoot mostly WC and so the TTn. is in the safe,
And may be used only once or twice a year....

I've been using a Stoeger Coach, hammerless double trigger since 2006. It's been trouble free so far. When it goes I'll buy one with hammers.

Hi

It appears that my Cimarron 1881 won't be available for quite some time.  Are the Stoeger Uplanders with buying?  I have a Remington Spartan coach gun that I haven't shot, but I'd like to get something with longer barrels for hunting, skeet, etc.  I'm also looking at the CZ-USA ringneck in 12 gauge.  Does anyone own either one?

Thanks

I have a couple of uplanders & like em a lot. One was my only shotgun for a lot of years & gave good service hunting, shooting trap & sporting clays, & CAS for countless thousands of rounds before I broke it. Replaced it with one just like it & still plan to fix it someday.

Do a quick search on Gunbroker for "Cimarron coach gun".  You'll find 7 or 8 new ones for sale. Some 1878 (hammered) and a couple 1881 (hammerless).  I did see one with 26" barrels too.

The CZ is a Turkish Huglu.  I have owned several in various gages.  They are real good guns and are as good as some of the low end (price) Spanish shotguns.  I would not be afraid to buy one.

Last I checked Cimarron, they had plenty of the 1881 shotguns in stock in barrel lengths 26", 28", and 30" with a couple of 22" and 24".  If you want me to check into that for you, shoot me an email at ThreeB.Shooting@att.net.

Hi

I walked the whole Tulsa Gun Show on Saturday and didn't find a single Cimarron Arms shotgun, CZ-USA Double Barrel, or Baikal.  I didn't see much in the way of CZ anything, and their .22lR 452 is a favorite of mine.  I did see several Stoeger Doubles, and I picked up several hundred (doesn't FEEL like an exaggeration) 1920-1960 vintage side by side doubles.  I thought that the Stoegers were a little too rough, they were much more rough than the Remington Spartan.

According to Wichita, I should have a new 1881 sometime soon.  Checks in the Mail...   ;)

HI

The Owner of Bullseye Gun Range in Wichita called and a 28 inch standard 1881 Cimarron Arms was shipped today or yesterday.  I should get it around Thanksgiving.  If you live close by, the new Owner (Mike) has added a lot of merchandise and is running a pretty good business.

Hi
I picked up the new shotgun on Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  The wood looks great, dark with a decent figure.  It's VERY hard to get put together.  I bought  Prairie shotgun belt and a Boyt bag for it.

Pictures are in the Shotgun Forum.   ;D
