Taylor's & Company in Winchester, Virginia are carrying a reproduction of Smith & Wesson's New Model No 3 Frontier Model revolver. This gun is build by Uberti and is chambered for .45 Colt cartridges. In this video I'll give you some background on the New Model No 3 Frontier, and we'll take it to the range.

Great video Mike.  I'm glad to see you could run a reasonable number of BP rounds through it without severe fouling problems - that's one of the knocks I've heard about the Uberti reproductions.  I've always had a hankering for a pair of those in 44-40.

Thanks Mike,

Please show the collar at the front of the cylinder that keeps the cylinder base pin from fouling and binding.

Silas McFee and I ran a 100 round test with Silas McFee's 1858 Pietta Remington with a Kirst Konverter 45 Colt cylinder.  After the test, we did some plinking.  The gun never fouled out, even though the 58s have a bad reputation for cylinder base pin fouling.  Accuracy remained great.  The ammo was loaded with Schuetzen FFFg black powder under PRS 45-250 Big Lube bullets.  All that lube splashing around really kept that Remington 58 running sweet.

At this point it's going to take nothing less than a S&W American clone to get me to buy another. I just can't see the market for this one, however it looks like a Laramie redux. Nonetheless, a good review as usual, BDM.  ;)

Those other shooters sure had alot of nerve making all that racket while you were trying to make a video!   ;D

Great video. Kinda makes me want one or two of those. I'm a nut for S&Ws. They would look very nice next to my 3 Schofields.

I would suspect that since it's using the barrel latch setup like the normal #3s that it probably wouldn't suffer from the same problems that the Schofields did where the latch might open during shooting and recoil?

I guess time will tell.

I'll have to check into availability and prices.

OK...let's bring this zombie post up from the depths.   ;D  I loaded 100 rounds of .45 S&W Schofield ammo this afternoon for my Laramie.  27gr of fffg Goex and the RCBS 230gr Cav bullet lube with SPG in Top Brass cases.  I keep trying to shoot enough of these to bind up my Laramie with BP fouling, but have yet to be able to pull it off.  But, then again, I only have 100 cases.   :(
