Here is part of what we worked on at the 150th Chickamauga Civil War event. This movie will have both Spencer Rifles in it as well as Henry rifles.

Deals with Delta force/modern military testing a new device and it ends up sending them back to the Battle of Chickamauga in the Civil War. It really is a pretty neat story and seems to be well done.  I have read the script and it looks interesting.

Now, I am beginning to understand the usage of modern Military imaging in this trailer.

Why do they feel they have to tell a very interesting historical account with Sci-Fi?
Instead they have to make it into some kind of time travel thingy?

How is this Sci-Fi connection going to improve on the original story? If told honestly and with the passion it was originaly fought?
My best,

Having been in the Business, all my working career.....

SEX sells, Violence sells , Fantasy sells ....
History ? the true story not so much, In fact Hollywood does not let real History get into the way of a good story.

The last Historical film that made money (real big money ) Titanic .... SEX , Violence and Fantasied story

Avatar,  already has out grossed Titanic .... SEX , Violence and Fantasied story....

I offer Enemy at the Gate, Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor or Black Hawk Down....  good films , Historical or Story ?

All were a combo of SEX and/or Violence and Fantasied story.

How is this Sci-Fi connection going to improve on the original story?

To us it may not/ or won't... but to a 21 th. Century movie going, DVD renting, Streaming Video playing public  :-\

Depends on how well it's made , filmed and has SEX and/or Violence and Fantasied story.

Sadly Blair,  you and I & I bet most that will read this here, are not the the Public Hollywood is counting on  :)

Quite a while back I read a book about this theme except at that time they were using Garands and Browning  1919's and
the battle was Gettsburg. Don't recall the name of this book but the basic idea was this group of modern soldiers had to
make a moral decision to intervene at a crucial point in the battle to keep the Confederates from winning the battle and
the war. Since it was a mixed group of North and South guys there was intense debate as to which way to go.

If you suspend focus on historical facts it was actually a good read.

If like most of us you go back to the Golden era of TV.... way before infomercials & Crap-dashians & Honey Boo boo and some broad with 8 brats .... ::)

You may remember the Twilight Zone , the episode with Warren Oates ... where three tankers in M5 Stuart get lost
at the Little Big Horn, find some relics, hear some shots.... they leave the tank, head over the hill toward the gunfire, Mi carbine & 1911's in hand.

The last scene shown, their angry tank Commander thinking they went AWOL , until he reads their names on the Custer massacre monument .....

One movie that immediately comes to mind is "Final Countdown" when the USS Nimitz passes through a storm at sea and through a time warp, reappearing just hours before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor... pitting the question of what, if thrust into this situation, would the crew of a modern-day aircraft carrier do to prevent an attack against their country aided by the knowledge of what's going to happen over the next 50 years.

Another movie script that comes to mind is one that was floating around in the early 1980s, entitled "An End to Bugling" in which is a story that accounts for the hours of Jeb Stuart's whereabout immediately prior to the Battle of Gettysburg when Lee was blind by a lack of intelligence on the federal army, where Stuart and his troops while crossing a ridge pass through a time warp, and reappear 100 years later during the centennial celebrations. Alexander's Bridge seems to be more closely related to this script, though errily similar to Final Countdown, pitting the question of what would happen if a modern elite team, like Delta, do in a situation if they were suddenly thrust into a Civil War era battle where their modern firepower and AT tactics would be used against archaic 19th century military weapons and tactics.

If the latter is the plot of the movie, what could also occur, is whether the Delta members fight between themselves about which side to join, Union or Confederate. Without the ability to call in air support, modern automatic weapons, though highly effective at close range, would be of no tactical advantage once they exhausted their supply of ammo.

There was a film, I believe made for PBS that starred the late actor Gary Merrill...
This pre-dated The Civil War by Ken Burns...

in this vehical ..Merrill plays present day Urbanite stuck in a traffic jam... as he listens to the car radio.
he hears the latest casulties for the Viet Nam war, he changes stations and gets something on the Korean War
becoming agatated , he again changes stations to hear of a WWII news cast , then WWI...
exasperated , he pulls to the side of the road and runs screaming into the snowy woods...
there he finds  a Civil War Photography wagon ...with many period photographs ..
The rest of the show , showcases these un-published photos...

At the time, I enjoyed it lot...I may even have taped it ...

"Groundhog Day" comes to mind.
I do enjoy the time travel Sci-Fi stuff.

Perhaps maybe it should be titled "Binge goes to War"? Everybody loves dog stories!
Oh, sorry, this is not a story about a dog. But, then it is not about History either!

How about  "2013 Delta Force goes to 1863 Chickamauga?
This should set the "make pretend stage" for all the Sci-Fi/time travelers out their.

Why title it "Alexander's Bridge"? When the story is not about a Historical event or Unit, but rather about time travel?
