Good day, Gentlemen!  Just returned last night from Dakota Territory, and you should have seen the snow!  A four foot drift behind the wagon yesterday morning, and more wagons completely buried!  Glad you had good weather for the Muster!

Dakota Territory is not a place I'd like to be right now. Not crazy about those winter campaigns.

Ah only 4 ft.  Should have been there in the winter of 97

With only the lid of our table top grille to dig out with, I'm glad it wasn't any worse!

You sure picked a lousy time to vacation in South Dakota. I think you'd have enjoyed you time more if you'd gone to the grand muster.  8)

It sure was a lot worse than we thought it was going to be.  I don't think I've ever seen an overall storm that bad before.

Ah boys, ya should talk to the lads of Minnesota. Here is how to winter campaign. One year, we set up the Sibley tent and temperatures dropped to around the ZERO mark. As long as the stove was kept fed, it was rather comfortable.

Hey Harley
You ought to make plans to join us in June. I'm pretty sure the weather will more pleasant than 0.

Why not Minot!  Where's Charlie Russell when you need him?  :-\  Sounds like the Big Die-up of 1886!  :(  That painting Charlie did of the dying cow, called "Waiting for a Chinook..." said it all back then.

No doubt the weather would be warmer, maybe unpleasantly warm. Suppose that is the Army way than isn't it? Sadly, my work load in the midst of summer does not allow for even a day off, let alone a Saturday. I will continue to look to the day when I will achieve the "R" word and have all kinds of time. Probably wont be any SS left but oh well............
