Two Flints,

Thank you for reposting this information.

I will see if I can post a photo, published a year or two later, that shows the end results of my alterations on an original Burnside M-1865 carbine.
The image will also show other Military items that a buff hunter may have been able to buy from some suppliers.
Now, this Modified carbine was in fine shape and condition. I would not recommend these types of modifications on a good quality original, please understand and note that. I chose to do this because It has been a project I had been working on for many years. First and foremost, I needed a gun to work up and on and this one foot the bill.
Instead, I chose to call my bullet/cartridge design the 458-Colt.
I based this off of the 45-70 case which was a bout .35 cent apiece compared to the $2.25 cent apiece 50-70 cases at the time.

As I said, the modifications can be rather complex and should not be done on a quality original arm.
My best,
Blair

Ken,

Can you give me a idea what you are starting with?
It makes a big difference in the cost from what I started 20 + years ago compared to today

My best,
