Look's like you found you a good loading tool there Mike. Did it come with the decapping pin? I have a tool like it for my 45-75. I recieved it without the pin. I made one as a replacement for it . You can see a pic of it here. I think It is under (old reloading tool new decapping pin).If you need one let me know . I would be glad to make you one .......Dusty

Dusty.
I have attached a picture (not that good) of the tool open, I take it the pin towards the open end is the de caping pin??

The other tool is the 45-70 one and I know I am nissing the priming/decaper rod which I have seen a picture of.

Mike I am told the sharp screw is called the Berdan Chisel. The decapping pin I am speaking of is used inside the die chamber . Here is a pic. of one I have made for my 45-75 Winchester reloading tool. The one on the left is the 45-75 the one on the right is for the 40-60 wcf......Dusty

Mike

Dusty.
Yes you are correct the pin works as a lever to pull the primer out.

I have some case's for 45-75 so might have a go at loading a couple with it.

I dont have a 76 in this caliber, mine is a Uberti in 45-60.
There was one in the same auction I got the loading tool but a guy I know wanted it more than me.. It had nickle plated side plates, fore end cap and magazine suport. The butt plate was Copper coated so guess at some time that was also Nickle.
The bore was in shootable condition also.

I will get one one day.

Dusty, that made me laugh, bro!

We've cooled down in the upper 80s here, but the smoke from the wildfires is keeping everyone indoors. Wet lightning last night, and red flag conditions through Friday night ...

Cheers Dusty! It's goin' good. Had some hot weather (for us) but down in the 80's lately. Had some rain too so the fire situation is pretty good. Sometimes August is hot and dry here and the wildfire thing can get outa hand but fine so far. Thanks for the howdy-do, right back at ya.

Glad to hear Y'all are doing OK up there . Look's like Summer is gonna hang on down here a while . Have Y'all been shooting the 76's any? Time for me to take mine out to the range and blow the dust off of her,,,,,Dusty

Hey Dusty,

If I remember correctly, when I live in Tejas it was summer 12 months of the year. Certainly in comparison to the winters up here, I can tell ya.

As a matter of fact I had the old girl out today after installing a new lyman tang sight. It out-shoots my Shiloh Sharps .45-2.1. What a gun. I feel really sorry for anybody who does not have one. Really, they should be issued at birth.

Watch yore back trail!
