Veg tanned leather chaps

I've made a couple of pairs of chaps before using chrome tanned leather but I'm not 100% satisfied with them. Id like to make a pair of 1800s shotgun chaps from Veg tanned leather. I've talked with Andy Rombach about them and he was very helpful wit getting me started on the project. Im wondering if anybody else has any experience with making a pair of them? Id like to get as much info on making  pair as I can before I get started on this project.

I would think your pattern would serve for the veg tan as well. If there is a fit issue, you could make adjustments to the pattern. Be sure to post pics when you get them done.
