If I have a belt and I lose some weight, should I just get another or trim down the one I have?  I guess I am asking is it a ton of work to modify them do you think?  It's a money belt.

I haven't made a money belt but typically, you would shorten a belt at the buckle end. Maybe one of the pards here who make them can advise you on the particulars.

To do it right you would need to take the belt apart and move the billet and then resew the belt. A fair amount of work but doable.

You could cut the billet off and sew it on by sewing all the way through the belt. As long as you can get by with moving the one billet and not the buckle end you would just loose some inside space at the far end. That stems on whether the bullet loops are not in the way also.

Bottom line is there is no cut and dry answer without seeing the belt and knowing how much it needs to be changed.

While not a money belt this was extended due to weight gain and in a bunk house style by lacing it on with a rawhide whang rather than sewing - I've seen a bunch of original belts done this way including money belts that were either sewn or laced through both layers when moved/replaced either to shorten or extend them.

Easy to do and 100% authentic to the period....

Very easy to make a belt longer a lot harder to make it shorter. A lot more can come into play. KT
Cheer up things could be worse, sure enough I cheered up and they got worse.
