That's right, I am talking about the NTR's Midwest Regional.  Hats off to both Norm and Cindy Rollins for putting on one heck of a shoot.  Thos was the best shoot I have been at all year!

The targets were big, close and fast.  I have a number of SASS Pards down here in Kansas who should be kicking themselves in the hind quarters for missing this one....What competition!  It gives me something to work for next year....

Yep, it was a good one, I'm going to post the picture of your "approved" head gear, err bonnet later...  Since we got rained on pretty good, we should be good for another five years without any... ;D

Hey, Wymore.

When ya get the chance, tell me sumthin' 'bout this 'Werkin' Cowboy' thing.  Been ta the sight 'n looked.  Didn't tell me much.  How's the scorin' werk?  Thinkin' I could like this class......

Cuzin' Arcey, Working Cowboy is scored by itself, not against other classes.  It requires one main match handgun and one pistol caliber rifle, and you can't use a guncart.  Working Cowboy's shoot the same course of fire as other classes, omitting the shotgun and normally you reload on the clock to shoot the second pistol string, but not always. At NTR I'd quess your reloading about half of the stages....   It was developed so that new shooters didn't have to layout all the money for all the guns, but some "experienced" shooters are doing it also.... ;D  Come on out to a NCOWS event, you will like it... ;D

'Preciate it, cuz.

NCOWS ain't no where 'round these parts.  Got me a bit 'sperience but it still sounds good.

Loadin' on the clock ain't no thing.  Pret much decided I ain't shot mah stocked Buntline 'nuff here lately.  Plannin' on usin' it next shoot 'n leavin' the lever gun here.  Load on the clock iz necessary fer the rifle part ennyways cause she don't hold but five it a time.  L'il more fer the pistol - oh well....

Got saddle bags.  One pistol 'n one rifle wit no shotgun 'n no shotshells ta lug wouldn't be a thing wit'out a cart.

Interestin'...........

Major Matt, you should have continued to shoot this stage until you shot it clean. Since it required you to look in a mirror and say, "I don't look half bad", you could have claimed prop failure on the mirror and gotten a re-shoot  ;D

Well, now......

I looked at that picture, and felt that it called for some sort of comment.

But, after considerable reflection and soul-searching, I concluded that there wasn't anything I could say that would be funnier than the picture itself!

Well,

I thought about it LG to tell you the truth, but in retrospect, I was afraid that I might enjoy it too much.... ;D

It was a pleasure to shoot with Major Matt.  Especially with his "unique" way of calling out the names for the upcoming shooters.  I had a bug under my skin Sunday morning and was a bit on the grumpy side.  It caused me to have some misses and on one occasion even took my wifes 20 gauge Stoeger up to the line instead of my 12 gauge Rossi.  Didn't realize what I did until I discovered that the shells wouldn't go in no matter how hard I pushed. :D Somehow, I still managed to win 3rd place for Blackpowder Duelist.  It's my second time shooting this class and my first win at a major match.  I guess maybe I'm a little more competitive than I thought.

Hey Arcey, the only disadvantage of shooting working cowboy is if you choose to shoot BP, you're shooting against smokeless shooters in the same class.  If you're just shooting for the fun of it, then no big deal.

Hey Cuts, obviously you're an exception to the rule.  For the most part, it's hard to see through the smoke and takes a little longer than the "gamer" pards shooting smokeless powder against BP shooters thinking it is going to give them an advantage.  There is always those so called BP shooters shooting the famous "smokeless BP" that I read so much about on TFS> ::)

Major Matt Lewis

OH THE AGONY!

I am working from home today and I just got the mail.  I got the scores from Norm & Cindy in the mail.  OH THE PAIN!  If I didn't have that blow up on stage 8 or my shotgun did not beguile me on one of the two stages that it did, I would have been "in the money."  That hurts.  Oh well, it is good to know that I can run with the big dogs.  There were REALLY some excellent shooters up there.  I reckon the agony of defeat makes victory all that much sweeter....

See y'all next year.  Now I am on a mission ;)

Check your quick fire score, you beat me by around .70 of a second, I didn't know you could shoot so slow.... ::)

That's because I had 4 misses on stage 8.  The same stage that I had 3 misses on in the match.  That stage just had my name this year.  Another reason to go back, just to shake the monkey of stage 8 off my back.... :)
