An old friend of mine is terminally ill and in a nursing home. His brother called me to say that they were having an estate sale to clear out the family home and holdings and he asked me to come and look at the leather tools and help them price them. His brother David has been a leather worker for almost 40 years and has many many tools . Most all of the tools are Tandy and there are several Tandy books and patterns  . There are several awls of different sizes edgers two complete plastic tandy stamp racks full of everything from pear shader to acorn stamps plus alphabet and number stamps. In short if some one is looking to get into the leather hobby this would be a turn key opportunity.I did not get a chance to inventory it all but its a really nice set of tools.
David made his living as a farrier and he cowboyed his entire life and he repaired saddles and harness  for his self and others.
The family is asking $250 for the entire collection of leather tools and misc. patterns dyes knives etc.The tool racks are both full and if each has thirty pieces in them at five bucks each then each rack would be worth $150. So this is a bargain for someone. If your interested drop me a message and I'll put you in touch with the family.

This sounds like a heck of a bargain to me.
Swinging a rope is alot of fun unless, your neck is in the loop.

That could be a bargain, though most people seriously into it have signed up for one of the levels of discount and will be paying half that per tool.   The racks are actually quite expensive, all the prices are online.

One thing about the older tools is that at times they are better, at other times they are worse.  Stamps have often been discontinued, or they were better made.  That could appeal to a sophisticated user, and be worth more money.   But that same user might not be interested in some of the run of the mill stamps we all use and have already, so breaking it out might help.  Of course, if your friend is happy at 250 it might well do fine at that level anyway.

Old tools that are at times worse in the Tandy vein are the groovers, punches, swivel knives.  Newer version have come out that are much better.
