Durango Flinthart

Please Mr. Custer I don't wanna go!
268 bodies on a Montana plain
"Oh, how white they look, how white"
When the cambrian measures were forming they promised purpetual peace. They swore if we gave up our weapons the wars of the tribes, they would cease, but when we disarmed they enslaved us and delivered us bound to our foe and the Gods of the copybook headings said, "Stick to the devil you know." Kipling

?? What's to say now, after all this time, except that like yerself, Durango, for some reason every June 25th, my thoughts turn to ol' George "The Boy General" and his ill-fated command.

How time flies. When I was small, on the 80th anniversary, there were still a few folks around who recalled hearing the news of Custer's defeat, when they had been very small.

And 63 years ago, the North Koreans came across the 38th Parallel.  >:(

We are ambushed and surrounded, Sgt Flynn!
In the face of sure disaster,
Keep those carbines firing faster,
For the 7th Cavalry and Gary Owen.

Garry Own, Gary Owen,
In the valley of Montana all alone!
There are better days to be
for the 7th Cavalry,
When we charge again for
dear old Gary Owen!
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

Your obedient servant,
Trailrider,
Bvt. Lt. Col. Commanding,
Southern District
Dept. of the Platte, GAF
