I just purchased a reproduction magazine tube from S&S for my 1860 Spencer rifle and it won't fit inside the buttstock. There doesn't seem to be any damage or corrosion preventing it from fitting.  Does anybody know what the outside diameter of the original tube is or the I.D. of the buttstock tube? I contacted S&S about the problem and haven't received a reply yet. I'm wondering if this tube was intended for an original rifle or a reproduction rifle, possibly in a different caliber.  Any ideas?

S&S makes two magazine tubes, SP-102 inner magazine tube, a reproduction, and an SP-180 outer magazine tube, a stock liner.  Did you order the right one?  Which one did you need before ordering?  What do you already have inside your stock?

I ordered the SP196, magazine, complete, smooth end cap, rifle, original follower... My outer magazine tube is original...  Is the repro mag tube compatable with an original outer tube?
