 nice link ^  ;D

so i have been TRYING to study up on the differences between a .454 bullet and a .452 bullet for the .45colt, what the actual difference is, the use, all that such. found this little chart that was kind of interesting. apparently they say .454's for lead, and .452's for jacketed.. but i know theres folks runnin .452's in lead with no issues.. so whats the actual difference? theres really no solid info i can find online through google and other search engines.. my speer manual shows both, but doesnt explain the difference either. is this accurate to say .454 for lead and .452 for jacketed?

what you have there is that the companys makeing pistols and/or ammo decided to drop one size of bullet. the old .45LC used to be .454-.455 dia.  it was .45 ACP at 452, .45 LC at /454or5 and .458 for the .45-70 .45-90.  I had a pair of S&W in .45 LC many years ago and they were .454 or .455 one had a 4 inch barrel and the other had a 6 inch barrel (late 60's or very early 70's.  I got out of guns and did fishing(off shore) land(very much inshore) motorcycles and then an airplane. when I got back onto guns in around the year 2004, the old LC size was gone and now all revolvers are .452.  yes, it makes things easier but if you get an old Smith and wesson mike'(or plug) the barrel first to see what size it really is?  they did the change between middle 70's and early 2000's. I was getting scrapped off the pavement at that time from my bikes(motorcycles)and yes, I wouild love to find some of the old smiths in .45 with the larger barrel
