Well, my Henry was along with my lubed bullets.

I am going to switch to GOEX for 44-40. (35gr should get it done)

The barrel was black as the ace of spaced, but, "goey" inside.

I ran a couple of patches through after the match and a couple of squirts of black powder solvent and it cleaned up PERFECTLY.

I didn't even have to use the brass brush!

I think I will stick with my lube formula for the 44-40 .429" bullets. (hardcast)

Just a quick follow up post.

I was at the range last weekend and shot 100rds of GOEX FFFg 35gr and home pan lubed 200gr bullets.

5 cleaning patches later and a couple of squirts of remoil down the barrel...SMOOTH AS SILK!!!

I did not clean my rifle barrel right away...I had to put it off 2 days.

Again, rather "goey" inside, but, nothing to worry about.

I took a 1/2" dowel rod and drove a nail into the side and measured it for 10rds of capacity. (cause for SASS, you are limited to 10rds or less)
This  way, the mag follower on my Henry won't run into my hand during a match.

If you are looking at gettting a rifle for BP...get an 1860 Henry repligun...you won't regret it.

Remember, style points count when you are packing up and heading home...

I gotsa Henry in .44-40 too. I just love it. I have only shot BP in it. They are great rifles.

I had my second flawless match with my Henry and pan lubed bullets. (still based on the Meister hard cast units...my soft cast bullets were not loaded in time for the match)

My only issue was I needed to drop some Hoppes #9 lube into the elevator and on the bolt after the 5th stage...everything else worked just fine.

I am going to take the side plates off my Henry and give it a good cleaning bofore putting it away...outdoor ranges close up here in the next couple of weeks and I am forced to shoot only smokeless indoors.
