My dad saw this frame and cylinder for a Remington revolver at a flea market for sale.  Knowing my love for Civil War antiques, he picked it up at a steal.  It appears to be a '58 New Model Army, older version perhaps?  Clearly has a dovetail slot for one of the German silver front sights and also has the safety notches on the cylinder for carrying all six loaded.  Serial number is 28XX.

My goal is to get repro parts that fit the original and to be able to shoot it, but obviously I need to know its exact model to do that.

Tips for restoring are oh-so welcome, it's a bit rough, but I look forward to bringing it back to some semblance of it's former glory, THANKS!

New Model Army Frame and cylinder with a Beals barrel.
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

That's awefully interesting.  Is that a common state of affairs for these revolvers?  Much appreciated, Wolfgang, looking forward to getting started on putting it back in order, thanks!
