Mustang Gregg

Howdy, faithful RATS:

Mustang Gregg here.
Last Sunday afternoon I was out checking pasture and I had an accident with a bolt action rifle that I thought was a pretty safe and sound firearm.
I was unloading it.  I raised the bolt and the round discharged.  The bolt flew back into my hand and made my RH thumb look like burger.  Calamity JoAnne rushed me to the ER and then to a Lincoln ER.  The hand surgeon was still there and rebuilt, splinted, pinned, grafted, reattached it back into a real-looking thumb.  I will get it casted in a few days.

God was taking care of me that day (as He always has).

Ouch!  Praying for a full recovery.  To bad it happened, but I am glad it wasn't worse.  As an aside I went to our monthly shoot today and was wearing my R.A.T.S. POSSE badge and received complements on how nice it looked.

Lumpy,

Latest update:

The thumb was put back in place.
Dr M did a real miracle job.
The tendons, nerves & ligaments have been reattached.
The wound has healed on the outside.
It is pretty full of scar tissue.
I am going to therapy.
I have motion (limited) in both thumb joints and at the wrist.
The fingers are coming around.
I will need to have a Carpal tunnel surgery to get more use.

I tried the Rugers in each hand yesterday.  Well-----I need a bunch of practice.  :o

Thanking God that it was only my thumb and that it is improving.

I would love to find it but, IT'S WAY TOO HARD TO DO!!

1.  I don't exactly know where I was standing (or what angle).
2.  I don't know how far it flew.
3.  It has rained a few times since.
4.  The surrounding trees have been removed.
5.  The ground has been disturbed by heavy machinery.

It is in an active pasture.

I would have to use a metal detector.
