BHB, if you look on page 98 of Packing Iron they call it a mexican loop with a bulbos half skirt that looks almost exactly like your Dog Bone and is dated 1875 - 1880. Looks like it would be authentic.

Beautiful holster, Henrik. The color is outstanding. I love the look with the squared top. My wife says it looks good enough to eat. :D

These other guys may like it but I think it's butt ugly!   ::)  I think you should send the whole kit and kabootle to me and I'll dispose of it for you . . . .    ;D

That is one fine looking shooting iron and I think the holster is not only authentic for it, but absolutely AWESOME!  What a great looking rig! Thanks for sharing it with us . . . and I agree . . . it looks good enough to eat!   :)

IMHO the Holster looks pretty authentic. But regardless that is a beautiful Holster and it will perfectly compliment your Open Top.

Many thanks for sharing the fine piece of Leatherwork with us.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

In that time period it would have likely been hand stitched with linen thread. Depending on how far a person wants to go.

I give people the option.
