The loading gate on my new ( uberti) 72 is loose enough i'm sure it will cause a high primer to hang-up . The screw is tight  but it flops a little at a angle,,not sure if the screw is too long or if it is the beveled collar on the screw it's self.Any one have this happen before??

Yep.  It's fairly common.  There are a couple of things you can do, but the easiest is just put a little bevel on the leading edge of the gate so the cartridge just pushes it,out of the way as it rotates.

Coffinmaker,,,Thank you, that idea first came to mind, then i looked at the shouldered screw that holds the gate..it appeared to stick out far, making contact with the back plate leaving to much slop,,sooooo,,,i filed it down and litely filed theleading edge ,,yahoooolooks good,,,,thank for your knowledge and help.

The screw fer the gate has threads and the close to the head there's a threadless part of the shank. That threadless part should come out the off side of the gate boss and show/be a tiny bit long and stick out beyound the gate by a small amount. That threadless part has a shoulder that bottoms on the frame so the screw can be made tight without making the gate too tight. If the gate gets too tight when the screw is tightened the shoulder on the screw doesn't stick out beyond the gate far enough.
Check that fit of that screw. You shouldn't have to bevel on the edge of the gate to let the cases push the gate back out of the way. The screw should set the gate flush with the frame and no bevel needed. If the gate can't set flush it's not right and needs fit right. Fit right where it contacts the frame somewhere or the face stoned down some. Depends on what's not right.
It's just better to make it right how it's meant to fit. That's how I see it. Ifin it's gettin ya stumped.....take it to someone like a gunsmith that does good work. :o

Slamfire,

Sorry, but I got to say this....
Perhaps you have more problems with this particular firearm than you should be having? (Its just a question.)
Have you considered returning it to the importer/manufacture to get fixed and/or replaced?
I would have! Weeks ago. And I am a gunsmith.

Not my place to tell you what to do....
Just a thought on my part.

It's a good thing mentioning the gate spring screw/tension and all. These "gun problems" like to play hide and seek like gremlins and trolls. ???
Having Hombres willing to share their knowledge to help people that want to "experience the satisfaction"  of fixin it themselves is a good thing.
Info/knowledge is like money in the bank. Not everyone wants to go the route of re-arranging the budget to get a gun fixed. Some people just plain arse like gettin their hands dirty and fixin stuff. Myself......I get a lot of personal satisfaction when I do a job on a gun and it turns out real well and......even though it can get difficult at times .....I learn more as I go along. Then I can do more and more myself. Maybe even help someone out with a problem they are having with a gun. That's satisfying too.....helpin out.
The Italian guns are cool.....the customer service a lot of times isn't though. Where I can go to buy some Italian guns "at the store where I can look them over" the deal is.....you buy it and theirs something wrong with it.......talk to the manufacturer or importer or distributor. Back in the day....the store took back the bad gun...exchanged it for you and ......the retailer dealt with the distributor. Now it's all placed on the back of the customer to deal with the distributor/manufacturer.
One thing gets me riled up....buying a new gun that's bad and having to send it to the distributor that doesn't just exchange it but.....sends it off for the long wait at some shoddy gunsmith shop. So I buy a new gun and first thing send it off for some shoddy work that takes forever to get done.
I bought  an Open Top years ago that had the wedge slot in the barrel too wide. Wanted it exchanged. Distributors stated the policy was repair or replace and they were going to repair. They had their gunsmith repair it. The gunsmith took a hammer to the arbor and peened it up some and that was how that particular gunsmith fixed that kind of problem....beat the gun with a hammer. I got it exchanged eventually since I told the distributor I didn't like someone beatin on my "new gun" with a hammer. ha ha ha ha  Kinda funny ain't it?
I wanted two 45 Scholfield Open Tops and to get them I had to pick the best from the lot and.....weld in the front of the arbor slots on both(one was the new gun exchanged for the first bad gun) and then file fit for the factory wedges to fit right.
Anywhoooo...they turned out well and I still have them a lot of years later and they been shot a pretty good bunch.
Moral to this parable.....first thing to check is the return policy the sellers have. Repair or replace doesn't get it when it's most always...repair a brand new gun ya just paid perfectly good money for.
Sometimes it's better to just learn to "fix it" yerself and know the job was done well.
