Do you want to buy them or make them?

Skeeter,

A thought you probably already had was to look into the Suttlers for the Civil War and the Indian Wars .... there were a lot of ex-soldiers that brought parts of their uniform (including galuses/suspenders) ... here are a couple:

TTFN,
My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

I've dug out this old pair of suspenders - maybe thirty years old -
Would they pass for old time?

If the elastic isn't dead and the leather rotted.  Well even with that, they would.

I make and sell these braces. Based on Civil War era photos but modified for modern repro trousers with 4 buttons in the front. No elastic, all handsewn. I also make some sewn on original handcrank sewing machine for you uptown fellers. Your 30 yr old braces will work, are they authentic? Thats another question. Braces are one of those things that generally only you will know how correct they are. Havent been to a CAS shoot where they was checkin' yer underdrawers!! Civil War, maybe.
I remain, respectfully,

Mr. Davis makes a fine product, the authenticity cannot be beat with a stick for the nominal fee he charges.
