Howdy Boys.

Just need a quick bit of info. I know of an original Burnside-made Spencer carbine for sale. I know nothing about Spencers, but after a quick look at Flayderman's of a few years ago, looks like these were made in 56-50. Correct?

This gun has had the sling bar ground off but is otherwise in excellent condition with the bore advertised as "bright and shiny."

I gather turned cases are available?

How's a price of $1800 sound?

Thanks a lot.

Too much for one that's had the saddle ring and bar ground off.

Don't pay money for things that've been screwed with.

To me the missing sling-bar would not be a deal breaker,of the 34,500 Burcide Spencers made only a few thousand would have seen any military use,the vast majority of them would have had the fist shots fired out of them for the first time in civilian hands, removing the sling -bar would be a logical thing to do for a hunting carbine as well as replacing the sights.I would look at the carbine as a shooter,it has obviously been used by somone that looked after it very well if the bore is that good, put a center fire block and a flat head cartridge folower in it and you have a very handy short range BP hunting carbine, reloading componets and loaded cartridges are avalible for the 65-50 Spepcer cartridge,or if you wished to restore the carbine to military spects the sling-bar and ring can be obtained from S&S and others at not a lot of cost

Agree with Herbert on the sling bar. To get a pristine Spencer you'll see a big jump in price. So-- the price sounds reasonable. What you need to do is post pictures if possible so the SSS guys get a full look at it. Then you will get best advice.
